Obituary for David Leland McVea

David Leland McVea, 62, “Mac”, a resident of Zachary, LA, died at his home on Friday, September 7, 2018. There will be a graveside service at Young Family Cemetery (1370 Plains Port Hudson Road, Zachary) on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 10am, conducted by Bishop Brad McVea. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Linda McVea; daughter Christy McVea and her husband Don of Denham Springs, LA; sister Barbara McVea Foote and her husband Parrish of Baker; three brothers: Robert P. McVea Jr. and wife Judy of Baton Rouge; James Y. McVea and wife Sherry of Cummings, GA; Benjamin S. McVea and wife Martha of Zachary; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert P. McVea Sr.; mother Vera S. McVea; and son David Lawrence McVea. He loved the New Orleans Saints and LSU football and baseball. He was a fan of all types of music. He was known as a mentor and confidant of friends far and wide. David walked with Jesus and his faith was strong. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center or Young Family Cemetery.
