Obituary for Carol Brian Backstedt

Carol Brian Backstedt, 60, a resident of Slaughter, went to be with our Lord and Savior on December 1, 2017.
She was an Assistant Professor at Baton Rouge Community College School of Nursing.
Vistation will be on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., Zachary, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 9:00 am until service time at 11:00 am, conducted by Rev. Jimmy Granger and Rev. Basil Wicker. Burial will follow at Redwood Cemetery, Slaughter, LA.
Carol is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 37 years, David W. Backstedt, Jr., daughter Julie Miller and husband Chris, sons David Backstedt and wife Rachel and Brian Backstedt and wife Cassie, brother T.J. Brian and wife Connie, and her grandchildren Hugh Thomas Miller and Brittany Ann Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Jewel and Jimmy Brian, sister Ruth Ann Brian and brother Terry Glenn Brian.
Pallbearers will be David Backstedt, Brian Backstedt, Chris Miller, Robert Mason, Gene Coates and Brad Vines. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Parks and Jimmy Connerly. 
Carol attended Slaughter First Baptist Church. She graduated from Silliman Institute, received her Bachelor's degree from Southeastern School of Nursing and her Master's degree from LSU School of Nursing. She enjoyed spending time with her family, children and grandchildren at the family farm. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
