On Monday, January 2, 2017 at 10:14 AM, Mrs. Earlene Johnson was called home to be with the Lord. Known as a wonderful loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Mrs. Johnson was born in Magee, Mississippi on January 4, 1920 and went home to heaven 2 days before her 97th birthday. She lived in Baker, Louisiana from 1957 until her husband, the late Rev. Allen C. Johnson, retired as Pastor of First Baptist Church Baker, Louisiana in 1984. They then moved to McCullough Rd in Central where she resided until she moved to Oakwood Village in Zachary. Earlene was famous for her ways in the kitchen and was considered by all to be the “perfect Pastor’s wife”! She was instrumental in leading her husband to the Lord before they were married in 1942. They were married for 69 years. A constant prayer warrior and soldier for Christ, Earlene Johnson extended God’s love to anyone with whom she came in contact. She will be greatly missed.
Earlene Johnson is survived by one daughter Sarah Kennedy, Hattiesburg, MS; three sons, Stan Johnson and wife Patti of Hammond, LA; Steve Johnson and wife Jill of Denham Springs, LA; Sam Johnson and wife Teri of Zachary, LA. She is also survived by grandchildren Laura Craven, Larry Johnson, Craig Johnson, Kyle Robertson, Steven Kennedy, Scott Kennedy, Scott Johnson, Jaime Ashford and Steven Johnson and their mother Daryl Johnson, Beau Alford, Sean Alford and Drew Alford, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and grand nieces.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. Allen C. Johnson; son-in-law Dr. Larry Kennedy and grandson Drew Johnson.
Pallbearers for the service will be Kyle Robertson, Craig Johnson, Stephen Kennedy, Scott Johnson, Larry Johnson and Steven Johnson.
Visitation will be at Zoar Baptist Church, Joor Road, Central, LA Tuesday January 3, 2017 from 5-8 PM. On Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM with the service at 2:00 PM. The service will be performed by Dr. Kevin Hand, Dennis McAnally, and Randle Lowrance, all ministers of Zoar Baptist Church.
