Obituary for Charles Merrill Roberts

Charles Merrill Roberts, 72, a resident of Zachary, LA, died at his home on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. He was retired, after working for over thirty years for the Lane Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary, LA on Monday, December 19, 2016 from 10am until funeral services at 1pm. Burial will be at Azalea Rest Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary A. Roberts; two daughters, Melissa L. Poindexter of Houston, TX; Christina R. Ard and her husband Mike Ard of Zachary; one son, Jonathan L. Roberts and his wife Leslie of Zachary; his mother, Nettie K. Bennett of Baker, LA; three sisters: Kathleen Verrette; Joan Smith, Gloria “Benny” Montgomery; three brothers: Fred S. Roberts and his wife Sherryl; John W. Roberts II; Wayne H. Roberts and his wife Sandy; and five grandchildren: Mason Poindexter, Landon Poindexter, Aubri Lynn Roberts, Eli Merrill Roberts, and Mia Marie Roberts. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter H. Roberts; sister Rebecca Lynn Carlock; brother Walter H. Roberts Jr.; sister Juanita Bueche; sister Doris Middleton. Pallbearers will be Mason Poindexter, Landon Poindexter, Mike Ard, Daniel Knight, Chris Lawton, and Chad Mouton. Honorary pallbearers will be Clay Durbin, Robert McHugh, and Chuck Hagan. He was a veteran of the US Navy and a graduate of Baker High School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and having fun with his family, especially his grandchildren.
