Obituary for Grover C. Royston

Grover C.  Royston
Husband, father of three, grandfather of four, and great grandfather of one, passed away on July 31, 2016, surrounded by his family at his Zachary home. He was preceded in death by his wife Anna in 2013.
Born in Picher, Oklahoma August 7, 1929, he was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a graduate of Pittsburg High School in Pittsburg, KS. After completion of military service, he attended Pittsburg State University for two years and graduated in 1958 from Centenary College in Shreveport, LA. He moved his family to Baker, LA after graduation to work as a chemist in the Research Department of Copolymer Rubber and Chemical Co. in Baton Rouge. After nearly 35 years as Research Chemist he retired in 1992 as Analytical Group Leader in Research.
Grover served for many years in various offices at Baker, Clinton, and Baton Rouge Lutheran churches. Visiting will be at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 9am until 10am. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Paul Anderson at 10am. Interment will be at Hillcrest Gardens in Baker. He is survived by his daughter Kathryn A. Abbott and husband Charles A. Abbott, Jr. of Zachary, LA; son, Richard K. Royston and his wife Kay V. Royston of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; daughter Karen E. Knecht and husband Steven G. Knecht of Zachary, LA; grandson, Karl J. Abbott and his wife Amanda Abbott and their son George Iain, of Wake Forest, NC; grandson Chris C. Abbott of Baton Rouge, LA; granddaughter, Rev. Kathleen R. Royston and her husband Steven E. Doss of Arlington, VA; and granddaughter Katy A. Knecht of Zachary, LA.
