Obituary for Shirley McGrew "Henny" Law
Shirley “Henny” McGrew Law, a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to all passed away to be with the Lord on July 27, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. She was 80 years old, born August 26, 1935 in Baton Rouge, LA and a resident of Zachary, LA. She enjoyed playing Bridge, gardening, antique shopping, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Harry (Dickie) Lilly, Jr., Duanna Lilly Holmes, Sheryl Lilly Hooge and Karen Lilly Ross; her siblings, Beatrice McGrew Yockey, Melva McGrew, Michael Terry McGrew, Daisy McGrew Thibadeaux and Kathleen McGrew Mounger; her 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Glen McGrew, and Eloise Poirier McGrew, her devoted husband of 25 years, Robert Daniel Law, Jr.; her siblings Robert Lyle McGrew and Judy Lynn McGrew; a grandchild, Conrad Carl Hooge “Slugger”. Pallbearers will be Warren Holmes, Chris Holmes, Slade Shaw, Justin Coley, Stephen Hooge and Stephanie Hooge. Honorary pallbearers are Don Holmes, Conrad Hooge and Tony Ross. Visitation will be held at Charlet Funeral Home in Zachary, LA on Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 5 – 8pm. Visitation will continue Monday, August 1, 2016 at Slaughter First Baptist Church beginning at 8:30 am until Funeral Services at 9:30 am. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Port Hudson National Cemetery. Those in attendance are invited to return to Slaughter First Baptist Church for a reception to honor her life. In lieu of flowers, her request was for donations to be made to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Gillsburg, MS or to the American Heart Association. The family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers and support as they lay to rest their beloved matriarch. She was a beautiful woman who lived life with zest and love. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
