Uncle Greg was a ROCK during his little brother, Ricky's cancer. He showed up at the crack of dawn with the newspaper everyday. Then he'd return at 8:30 for coffee and Live with Kelly and Michael. After he and daddy discussed her hair and watched a little of the show, they'd sit and talk...discussing important things and not so important things. However, it was the consistency of his visits that meant so much to Daddy who spent some lonely days at home. Uncle Greg was always there. I enjoyed the coffee visits- when I could wake up in time for them- Uncle Greg teased me about that. I liked talking with Uncle Greg because we could discuss real, meaningful things...faith, Jesus, struggles...Now, fast forward to The last days of Daddy's life. Uncle Greg hardly left his side. He was there to support us, to encourage Daddy, to help administer medication, to stop Daddy from falling, to be a strong shoulder to lean on when Daddy couldn't walk by himself. He stayed overnight with us the nights before Daddy died. He talked with us. He prayed with us. After Daddy died, Uncle Greg was there for us that week. We felt lost and alone because our Daddy was gone. Uncle Greg stepped in and brought a sense of comfort to my sisters and me. Finally, he prayed at the graveside. He showed great love and dedication from the beginning to the end of Daddy's life and that is something that I will never forget.
