Obituary for Elizabeth Anne "Liz" Basile

Elizabeth Anne Basile, known to her loved ones as Liz, passed away on September 13, 2023, in Zachary, Louisiana, at the age of 56. Born on August 16, 1967, in New Orleans, Louisiana, she was the daughter of Anna Basile and Murphy Basile Sr., both of whom preceded her in death. Liz is survived by her devoted son Quentin Basile, her loving grandchildren Briley and Jace Basile, and her siblings Murphy Basile Jr. and Mary Anne Holden. She was also cherished by her nieces and nephews Kayla, Ryan, Anthony, Nick, Ashley, Amanda, and Matt. Liz was a world traveler and had a deep appreciation for all things French. She was bright, compassionate, and always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a prayer. Liz's passion for teaching led her to a fulfilling career as a French teacher at Zachary High School and Ella Dolhonde until her retirement in 2019. She made a lasting impact on the lives of her students, instilling in them a love for the language and culture. Outside of her career, Liz found joy in spending time with her grandchildren, playing with them and creating cherished memories. She also had a green thumb and took great pleasure in tending to her flowers. Liz's wanderlust took her to many destinations, but her heart belonged to Paris and she relished every opportunity to explore the city and immerse herself in its rich history and art. Liz's faith was an important part of her life, and she worshipped at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. It provided her with spiritual guidance and a sense of community. Services to honor Liz's life will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Zachary. A memorial visitation will take place from 9:00am to 10:00am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial starting at 10:00am. Father Lamar will be conducting the services. The funeral home assisting with the arrangements is Charlet Funeral Home, located in Zachary, Louisiana. Liz's warm smile, kind heart, and love for her family will be dearly missed. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
