Obituary for Yolanda Rosemary D'Aquilla (Dwyer)
Yolanda Rosemary Dwyer D’Aquilla, age 79, entered the heavenly kingdom on May 11 th ,
2023, at her home in St. Francisville, Louisiana. She was born in Baton Rouge,
Louisiana on February 5, 1944, and was fortunate enough to spend her lifetime in her
hometown of St. Francisville. Preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Josie
Virgo Dwyer. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, William “Billy” D’Aquilla; two
sons, Sam D’Aquilla, Jackson, Louisiana, Andy D’Aquilla (Kelly), St. Francisville,
Louisiana and one daughter, Mary Dreher (Kevin), Starhill, Louisiana; eight
grandchildren, Annie, Nicholas (Megan), Sara (Trey), Maria, Josie, Will, Collin, and
Drew; four great-grandchildren, Abigail, Henry, Ari, and Eleanor. She is also survived by
her two sisters, Ray Lynn Dyer of Baton Rouge, LA, and George Ann Hale (Phil) of
Natchez, MS, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A 1962 graduate of St. Francisville High School, she would later go on to graduate from
LSU with a B.A. in Art, after which she came to love and excel in both photography and
pottery. In addition to her role as homemaker, she also served as a docent at Rosedown
Plantation for many years and worked for a short time in the field of real estate. Yolanda
was devout in her faith and, over the years, served active roles in her church, Our Lady
of Mount Carmel. She will be missed by family and friends. Her grandsons, as well as
Kevin Dreher and Trey Hunter will serve as pallbearers.
The family wishes to express their most sincere thanks to Yolanda’s dedicated
caregivers, Dorothy Stansberry, Earline Webb, and Shelita “Bunny” Tate.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 9:00 am – 10:30 am at Our Lady of
Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 11485 Ferdinand Street, St. Francisville, LA with funeral
mass to follow at 10:30 am and burial in Mount Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the
family asks that any memorial gifts be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Research
Hospital. Funeral services have been entrusted to Charlet Funeral Home, 4230 High
