Obituary for Lula Ard Boothe (Watson)

Lula Mae Watson Ard Boothe, a native of Grangeville and resident of St. Francisville, died on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at the age of 94. She was retired from Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System in Jackson with 30 years of service. Blessed with a soft heart, a fun-loving spirit, a strict moral code, a positive attitude and a complete inability to be idle, she was beloved by her family and friends, and continued to lend a hand where needed, working various jobs well into her seventies while sewing, crafting, firing ceramics, building two homes, and nursing injured animals back to health (a barn owl and a raccoon come to mind). But most of all, she enjoyed gathering her grands for stayovers spent swimming, fishing, boating and camping. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Slaughter First Baptist Church, from 9am until service at 11am conducted by Rev. Basil Wicker. Burial will be in Star Hill Cemetery, St. Francisville. She is survived by her children, Jo Ann Ard Young, Louise Ard Travis and husband, Billy, Joseph Adrian Boothe and wife, Jessica Colleen, TJ Boothe and wife, Colleen, and Shelia Johnson and partner, John Leblanc.
