Julian Dupree Kent, “J.D.”, 78, a loving husband, father, and pawpaw, died on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. There will be a visitation at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 9:00am until funeral services at 12:00 noon. Burial will be at Jackson Cemetery. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Barbara “Bobbie” Kent; one daughter, Angie Boyd and husband Ralph Boyd of Bayou Sorrell; one son, Chip Kent and wife Rubee of Jackson; sister Gwen McCauley and husband Neal of Jackson; seven grandchildren: Leslie Parker, April Boyd, Jason Boyd, Jesse Boyd, Adam Boyd, Nick Kent, and Liv Kent; great-grandchild Kentlee Boyd; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian Kent Sr. and Lois Ricks Kent; and sister Mary Jane Kent. Pallbearers will be Mark Hurst, Rick Hurst, Jason Boyd, Jesse Boyd, Adam Boyd, Nick Kent, and Bryan McCauley. Honorary pallbearers will be James Odom and Chris Fontenot. He proudly served as a member of the Jackson Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed gardening, making candy, cutting the grass, and taking care of his beloved dog, Ginger. He was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ in Jackson.
