Obituary for Patricia Ann Phillips (Garrison)

Patricia Ann Garrison Phillips passed away on March 18, 2023 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge with her three children by her side. “Mama Pat” was born December 6, 1938, in Moultrie, GA, the only daughter of the late Tom David and Ruth Brewton Garrison. Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Everett Phillips; two brothers, Wallace and Douglas Garrison; and grandson, Casey Garret Phillips. The pallbearers will be Chase Phillips, Blake Phillips, Carl Blackwell, Landon Blackwell, Conner Boylan, and Jameson Phillips.

Patricia is survived by her children Eddie Phillips, Chuck Phillips (Sharon), Cheryll Tate (Ralph), seven grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was a member of Zachary United Methodist Church. Although a Louisianian for most of her adult life, she often spoke fondly of her childhood growing up in Georgia and the Carolinas. Her life-long vocation, hobby, and passion was mothering her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook, especially for her grandchildren, and prided herself for her famous pineapple cupcakes. One to never be bashful, she was happy to share her thoughts and opinions on life. Mama Pat bestowed her love upon her family and friends, and she will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Zachary United Methodist Church, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tim Lawson officiating. Burial ceremony will follow at Azalea Rest Cemetery in Zachary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude to help kids fighting cancer.
