Obituary for George Washington "Bubba" Eisworth Jr.

George Washington “Bubba” Eisworth, Jr. a resident of St. Francisville, passed away peacefully Sunday night at his residence on top of a hill wondering about deer shots he’d just heard. An avid hunter and fisherman, he looked forward to getting back to both. Bubba graduated from Central High School where he played football and loved to rodeo and ride bulls. He chose to enter the US Army rather than college like his father wanted him to and served honorably. He worked as a Machine Tender at the former Crown Zellerbach paper mill for many years. He was a dedicated bass fisherman holding many trophies, he was also well known at Grand Isle. He not only won trophies for trout and redfish but he also taught others to fish live bait and invented methods to keep his bait alive. Bubba taught Bible school at First Baptist Church in St. Francisville and was still an active member of the adult couples Bible class. He is survived by his wife and mother of his sons, Beryl Bickham Eisworth and his former wife and mother of his daughters, Jeanette Lastrapes Eisworth, He is also survived by his children, Christi Langlois (Chuck), Jennifer Jackson (Ken), Leslie Russell Eisworth (Rachael) and George Randall Eisworth; sisters June Theriot and Mary Ann Morris (Ted), sister-in-law Nancy Bickham, brother-in-law Jim Fitch, son-in-law Walter Rodgers, Grand children Raegan Stonemark (Ray), Joshua Devillier (Shelby), Travis Rodgers, Dustin Rodgers(Avelina), Remy Eisworth and Cullen Jackson, Great-grandchildren Ellise Vice, Reid and Maddox Stonemark, Ethan and Zoe Devillier and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Minette Perilloux Eisworth, mother and father-in-law A.D. and Leslie O. Bickham, Sr., daughters Dana Rodgers and Beryl Elizabeth, sister Cynthia Fitch, grand-daughter Kenlie Jackson and daughter-in-law Tara Weir Eisworth. Also preceded in death by his two brothers-in-law whom he loved like brothers John G. Theriot and Leslie Oliver Bickham, Jr. We would like to thank his devoted long-time caregivers who came to tell him goodbye and stayed to comfort his family - Karen Vessel, Jameka Williams, China Cummings, Linda Arrington and to others who cared for him throughout his illness. A special thank you to Linda, Scott, Melanie and Janet who were here when family was most needed. Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of St. Francisville on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 9AM until services at noon conducted by Dr. Joel Williams and Reverend Mike Clark. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
