Jimmy Doyle Thaxton, Jr. was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Dec. 11, 2022. He entered this world on Oct. 3, 1964, born to Jim and Merline Thaxton. Jimmy graduated from Baker High School in 1981. He was in the Marine Corps 1981 – 1987. Jimmy married Jerrie Badeaux on a six week leave. He was a reserve officer for Baker Police Department for 4 years. DOC officer at Hunt Correctional Facility 3 years impact. (Boot Camp). He was a DPS officer for 5 years, 2 years at the Governor’s mansion and Louisiana State Police for 13 years. Jimmy was honored LSP Exceptional Valor Award in 1996. The Military Order of the World Wars honored Trooper Thaxton as its Law Enforcement officer of the Year at the American Legion Post of Baton Rouge. Jimmy is survived by his mother, Merline, his wife, Jerrie Badeaux Thaxton, brother, Ralph Thaxton, son, Ryan Scott Thaxton and daughter, Autumn Thaxton. Niece, Jobi (Todd) Thaxton and nephew, Jaeln Thaxton. 4 grandchildren, Kinsley, Karsyn, Brayden and Aubri. Special great nieces, Lori and Noella. His dog, Marley, that he loved. Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, Jim Thaxton, nephew, Jory Thaxton, grandparents, John and Reba Thaxton and Johnnie and Delphia Bussell. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., 4230 High Street, Zachary, on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022 from 10am until service at 12pm officiated by Rev. Corey Olivier, music by Marvin Smith. Graveside Service with military honors will follow at Louisiana National Cemetery, Zachary. Pallbearers will be Ralph Thaxton, Ryan Scott Thaxton, Jaeln Thaxton, Travis Rodgers, Todd Dantin and Cody Neely. Honorary pallbearer is Kirk Spring.
