Michael Lee Duke, 72, of Florien, LA, passed away at home on October 30, 2022,
after a brief illness. Mike was born on February 19, 1950, in Paducah, KY. After
graduating from Broadmoor High School in 1967, he went on to obtain a degree
in electrical engineering from LSU. Upon graduation, he became a Second
Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed at the Naval Air
Station in Pensacola, FL, where he earned his Navy wings.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jerry Wilkerson Duke, his children, Kevin
Duke and Kelley Mouch, his grandchildren, Kaleb Duke, Corinne Mouch, and
Pierce Simpson, his siblings Robbye Duke, Debbie Richardson, John Duke, and
Michele Roberts, as well as his sister-in-law, Debbie Wilkerson.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” Duke and Joanne
Roeling Duke of Baton Rouge, and his brothers, William “Billy” Duke and David
Duke.
Aside from his family, the two things Mike loved the most were the USMC and
LSU. An avid football and basketball fan, he never left a game early, and enjoyed
attending gymnastics meets with his granddaughter. He enjoyed life to the fullest
and was always smiling.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on Sunday, December 11 at 11:00 AM
at Charlet Funeral Home in Zachary. Visitation from 9:00 AM until the time of the
service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s
Association or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
