Laney was born on October 21, 1930 in DeQuincy, LA and passed on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at the age of 92. He served in the Air Force right after high school graduation. He worked as a dispatcher for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for 17 years, then in operations at Dow Chemical for 22 years. Laney and wife, Rosa Quirk Mack, raised their large family in Opelousas and Baton Rouge. His retirement years were spent in Zachary, LA. He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, a grandson named Jacob Mack, his parents, Cornelia Mack and Herbert Laney Mack, and his sister, Zelda Mae Johnson. He was a fun-loving fellow whose friends, neighbors, family and work buddies brought him so much happiness. He loved family gatherings, parties of all kinds, spending time at Fennwood, traveling, golf, LRC, playing cards, reading and listening to music. Laney is survived by his 6 children and their spouses: Betsy and David Boeckman, Carol and Tom Cook, Pat and Dan Smith, Jill Jarreau, Mitzi and Ronnie Dinecola, and Lane and Lynda Mack. Among “Pretty Paw Paw’s” sweetest blessings were his many grandchildren, their spouses and his great grandchildren: Eric and Mallory Boeckman, Jenn and Justin Stafford, Katie and Trey Williams, Taylor and Drew Whittaker, Tricia Smith, Stephen and Holly Smith, Tim Smith and Lizzy Evans, Corey and Melissa Jarreau, Megan and John Uhle, Allie Jarreau, Rip and Morgan Dinecola, Lanie and Jacob Shimerdla, and Herb and Maddie Mack, and too many great grandchildren to name at $3.50 per line per day.
