John T. Buxton, 90, a native of Winnfield, LA and a resident of Zachary, LA, died on Saturday, October 29, 2022. There will be a visitation at Galilee Baptist Church in Zachary on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, and then on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, from 10:00 am until funeral services at 12:00 noon. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Nell Tolar Buxton; one daughter Darlene Hendrickson and husband Randy of Zachary; four sons: John Lynn Buxton and wife Toni of Walker; Steven Lee Buxton and wife Lisa of Central; Robert Dwayne Buxton and wife Gwen of Zachary; Darran Randall Buxton and wife Tracy of Greenwell Springs; 11 grandchildren: Hunter Buxton, Ava Buxton, Lacy Gibbs, Chase Baker, Dallas Buxton, Kaylee Mondrick, Natalie Cowart, Dara Nolan, Ashley Jones, John L. Buxton II, Christa Hollowell; and nineteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Silas Buxton, mother, Georgia M. Buxton, three brothers, Lonnie Buxton, A.V. Buxton, and Theron Buxton; and sister Maxine Kyle. Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Korean War. He enjoyed gardening. He was a Mason. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
