Obituary for James Durand "Jim" Carson

James Durand “Jim” Carson, 73, died on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022. He was retired from the Veterans Administration as Chief of Patient Advocacy. Jim was a resident of Zachary, LA and a former resident of Clinton, MS and Salisbury, NC. He was a US Air Force Veteran. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022 from 10am until service at 12pm conducted by Rev. Campbell Silman. He is survived by his wife, Jane Guy Carson, a son, Joshua Lamar Carson, 2 step children, Tracie Norred (Stephen) and Michael Guy (Adam Jubanowsky). 2 brothers, Dewayne Carson (Lila) and Chris Carson (Marilyn). Sister-in-law, Debbie Scott (Johnny). Grandchildren, Toby, Bailey and Adalyn Carson and Skylar and Kaylee Norred. Jim is preceded in death by his first wife, Harriet Browning Carson, parents, William Durand Carson and Willie Mae Madison Carson. He was a member of Pocahontas Baptist Church in Clinton, MS and previously served as a Deacon at Enon Baptist Church in Salisbury, NC. Jim enjoyed golf and bowling. He grew up playing baseball and continued playing with the Wiesbaden Flyers while in the Air Force. He also earned a blackbelt in karate while serving in Korea. Special thanks to HVCU at Our Lady of the Lake and Dr. Jasti, Dr. Bringaze and his “special angel nurses” for all of the care and compassion given to Jim and Jane during this difficult time.
