Obituary for Michael David Saint Sr.

Michael David Saint, Sr., 71, peacefully passed on July 20, 2022. He was born in Hammond, LA on June 14, 1951. The first child of David Saint and Johree Saint Edgerton.

He attended Clinton High School where he excelled at football, winning the 1968 State Football Championship. This is also where he met his wife, Donna. After graduating, he attended the United States Military Academy at WestPoint in NY, but eventually made his way home and enrolled at LSU.

Michael loved NASCAR and watching Old Westerns. He also enjoyed fishing, sailing, and later, cruising the river with his grandkids to watch them play in the lake. He was a jack of all trades. As a child, he was known to break things just so he could figure out how to put them back together. There was nothing he could not fix, or at least “rig” to make it work just a little while longer. He was also a master craftsman. His children’s fondest memory was during a hardship year when he made their Christmas gifts.

He always strived to provide the best life for his family and was a true visionary. This is why, in 1993, he decided to open his own software development company and jumped in feet first. His determination, positive outlook, and work ethic were second to none. He passed along this “sink or swim” attitude to his children, but never without constant guidance and encouragement. He always saw things through optimistic eyes with the belief that hard times would eventually pass…and they did. We will miss our porch talks, but mostly his hugs.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Donna Marcum Saint. Children, Donna “DD” Rivera (Albert), Michael David Saint, Jr. (Heidi), Denise Saint, Dana Trahan (Josh), and D’Anna Durkin (Mike). Brother Sidney Saint (Yuki), and sister Nancy Stott (Bill). His brother-in-law Mark Marcum (Regina). 13 grandchildren: Marlee, Kirsten, Skylar, Abby, Addison, Hayden, Kaimen, Alston, Chance, Kayzleigh, Ashton, Breanna, and Killian. Great-grandson, Colt. And numerous nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his father David Saint, mother Johree Edgerton, and younger brother, Donald Saint.

Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home in Zachary on Sunday, July 24, 2022, from 1pm until service at 3pm. Burial will be in Redwood Cemetery, in Slaughter.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and sons-in-law. The honorary pallbearer is his nephew, LTC William Saint.
