Obituary for Ross Don Avellone

Judge Ross D. Avellone, a resident of Zachary, LA, and former long-time resident of Madison,
Ohio, died on Saturday, June 25th, 2022. He was a loving father of two children, daughter
Roslyn Salchow of Milwaukee, WI, and son Tim (Linda) Avellone of Zachary, LA. He was a
wonderful grandpa of four - Emily (Jason) Romans, Ross (Marie Mikolainis) Salchow, Alex
(Mozhdeh Dalaeli) Avellone, and Leah (Chet) Henderson - and a proud great-grandpa of Dayton
and Colin Henderson. He is also survived by his sister Adeline Adams of Florida, and his
youngest brother John (Glenna) Avellone of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his brother
Ted Avellone and by the love of his life, his wife Luella Jane Avellone.

Ross was born in Berea, Ohio, on September 9, 1926, to Ross and Cecilia Avellone. He
graduated from Mentor High School, earned a BA from Baldwin-Wallace College, and a JD from
Cleveland-Marshall Law School. He was a WWII veteran, having served in the Army Air Corps.
He was serious and passionate about his decades-long career as an attorney and judge in Lake
County, Ohio, during which he made special and abiding relationships. He was a proponent of
good fitness, a lover of all growing things, and always looking into the “latest tech.” In his
retirement years, he turned his passion to painting, producing innumerable beautiful works of
art. In his almost 96 years, he touched many lives and hearts, and will be remembered with
love and affection.
