Obituary for George Joseph Dugas

George Joseph Dugas died on Saturday, June 11, 2022. He was 95 years old, a native of Jackson and long-time resident of Ethel and Central. He was retired from Bell Laboratories and was a retired teacher from DCI. He was also previous owner of The Pond. George was a US Army veteran. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Zachary on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 1pm until service at 3pm. Burial will be in Jackson Cemetery, Jackson. He is survived by his son, Michael Dugas. A grandson, William Dugas. Brother, Clyde J. Dugas, Sister in law, Kathy Weaver. Nieces, Joyce Overton, Pat Strain, Alexis Addy, Liz Wooster, Judy Fontenot, Vicki Simms, Dee Keslick, Paula Badeaux, Susan Bougere and Shelley Bradford. Nephews, Jerry Gautreaux, Mike Sistrunk, Rob Dugas, Ronnie McConnell, Morris Needham, Trae Weaver and Scott Icenogle. Numerous great nieces and great nephews as well as many friends. He is preceded in death by hiswife of 63 years, Annie "Ruth" Weaver Dugas parents, Joseph and Virginia Dugas, sister, Evelyn Connell, brother, Bobby Dugas, and nephews, Mitch Gautreaux, Stephen Dugas and Gary Cooper. Pallbearers will be Kyle Wooster, Morris Needham, Trae Weaver, Jerry Gautreaux, and Rob Dugas. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael and William Dugas. George is also survived by his beloved dog, Maggie Mae. George was a 1943 graduate of McKowen High School and 1950 graduate of Southeastern Louisiana College. He loved boating and playing golf.
