Obituary for Sally Kelly Goynes

Sally Kelly Goynes, a native and lifelong resident of Pride, LA, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022 at the age of 88 after an extended illness. Sally was a graduate of Pride High School and Louisiana State University. She was a teacher in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System for 30 years, with her last 20 years teaching kindergarten at White Hills Elementary.

Sally was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served the church in many capacities during her lifetime, including Sunday School, Relief Society, and working in the Baton Rouge Temple along with her husband. She was very interested in genealogy and researched her ancestors back many generations. She shared her knowledge of genealogy with many.

Sally is survived by her sister, Eula Bankston of Covington and her children: Scott Goynes, Ross Goynes and his wife Stacey, Lora Goynes Warren and her husband Trey. She was the loving grandmother to Karley Goynes, Loryn Goynes Law (Dallin), CoryGoynes, Logan Goynes (Kiley), Lesley Goynes, Lindsey Warren Davidson (Mike), Leyna Warren Dispensire (Matthew), Mason Goynes (Kelsey) and Claire Goynes, and great grandchildren: Finn andRaegan Hubbs, Gunner, Maggie and Mykle Law, andClark and Aiden Davidson.

Sally was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Alton Allen Goynes, Jr., son, Kyle Goynes, grandsons Sean Goynes and Chase Warren, brothers Jim Kelly and Dallas Kelly, as well as her parents, Scott and Beulah Kelly.

Sally will be remembered for her sweet generous spirit,wry sense of humor and her beautiful green eyes. She will be greatly missed by her family.

The family would like to express our gratitude for the love and support of her caregiver, Diane Rogers, and the staff of Clarity Hospice.

John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.”

Visitation will be Friday, April 1, 2022 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Pride Ward from 9:30 until the funeral services at 12:00. Burial will be at the cemetery adjacent to the church immediately following.
