Obituary for Ray Angelo Vittorio

Ray Angelo Vittorio, 66, peacefully passed away on Saturday March 5, 2022 surrounded by his children. Ray, preceded in death by his parents Angelo and Lucy Vittorio, was born on September 9, 1955 and raised in Independence, LA.
Ray was a dedicated employee of Angola State Penitentiary for over 41 years. After working across various departments and roles, Ray retired as an Assistant Warden at the end of 2021. Ray was also a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served as an Airmen.
Ray loved his family and was so proud of his children. Ray is survived by his son Andy Vittorio and wife Mindy, son Chad Vittorio and wife Amber, daughters Courtney Vittorio and Lauren Vittorio. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brennan Vittorio, Bryce Vittorio, Dawson Whitstine, Carson Vittorio, and Corinne Vittorio.
Family and friends are invited to attend services on Thursday March 10, 2022 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Visitation to begin at 9 am followed by funeral service at 11 am, www.felicianacatholic.org. Burial services will immediately follow in Colonial Cemetery, Independence, La.
Pallbearers will be Louisiana State Penitentiary Honor Guard.
The family would like to send their gratitude to the health care workers of Acadian Ambulance and Hospice of Baton Rouge.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Parole Project of Baton Rouge. Ray's lifelong vocation at Angola mirrors the mission of this advocacy organization. The Parole Project supports individuals who have served twenty years or more in prison, advocating for their releases through existing parole and clemency processes, for administrative reforms at the pardon and parole board, for expanded release mechanisms through legislation, and for District Attorney-led sentence reviews.
