Obituary for Earl P. "Duke of Earl" Rhodes Jr.
Earl "Duke of Earl" Phillip Rhodes Jr., 72, a resident of Greenwell Springs, born in Houma, gained his angel wings on February 9, 2022. He was a retired Lieutenant with the Baton Rouge Police Department after 26 hard years in uniform patrol. He was a 1968 graduate of Istrouma High School and proudly served in the US Army in Vietnam from 1969-1970 and was a drill instructor from 1970-1971 at Ft. Polk.
He was survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Anita B. Rhodes, daughter, Kathryn Stephens(Scott) of Denham Springs, son, Phillip Rhodes(Jamie) of Denham Springs, grandchildren, Phillip M. Foster, Braydon M. Foster, Jonah A. Carmena and Kyle D. Carmena. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl P. Rhodes Sr. and Marion B. Rhodes. Visitation will be on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., Zachary from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. A private family graveside will be held at a later date. Special thanks to the staff and caregivers at Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet for all the care shown to us during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children Research or a charity of your choice.
