Obituary for Sarah Mitchell Brice

Sarah Mitchell Brice, 74, of Pride, LA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 22, 2021, with family at her side. A native of Pride, Sarah was the daughter of the late E.D. and Lula Forbes Mitchell. She was the wife of the late Thomas Brice, and was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Brice, Sr. After graduating from Pride High School in 1965, Sarah attended Spencer Business College, and worked throughout her career as a secretary. She thoroughly loved her work, which included working at State Farm Insurance Co. as well as the Baton Rouge Advocate. Upon their retirement, Sarah and Tom moved to Biloxi, MS. They enjoyed meeting new people which resulted in life-long friendships. While Sarah loved her work and people, her heart was happiest when she and Tom moved back to Pride to stay. Sarah loved the Lord and was faithful in service as she played the piano at Sandy Creek Baptist Church for many years. She was currently the pianist at Bethany Baptist Church in Baywood and found great joy in serving the Lord with her whole heart in this way. Sarah is survived by her son, Mitchell Brice (Laci), and a daughter-in-law, Michelle Brice; her grandchildren: Jeffery Jr., Ben, Micah, Trenton, Ty, and Sawyer; and great-grandson Silas. She also leaves behind her siblings: Barbara Kees, Donovan Mitchell (Barbara), Margaret Purvis (Gary), and Veronica Gregory (Keith); and numerous other relatives and dear friends. There will be a visitation at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc in Zachary, LA on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and then on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at the Sandy Creek Baptist Church from 9:00 am until funeral services at 11:30 am, conducted by Rev. Gary Purvis. Burial will be in Louisiana National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mitchell Brice, Trenton Brice, Ty Brice, Donovan Mitchell, Joe Morgan, John Morgan, and Jeff Brice, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sandy Creek Baptist Church Building Fund.
