LaVerne Hopkins Knight, 93, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, left her earthy home on Thursday, April 22, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was a resident of Slaughter. She retired as a CNA from Villa Feliciana Medical Complex.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 26, 2021 at Church of Christ of Zachary, corner of 39th and Hemlock St., Zachary from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon service. Burial will follow in Azalea Rest Cemetery.
LaVerne is survived by her children, Donald M. Knight, Stephen F. Knight (Pamela), Theresa K. Wall (Terry) and David L. Knight (Jodi), sister, Gwendolyn "Sue" Oakes, brother, William "Dub" C. Hopkins, grandchildren, Stacy Knight, Matthew Knight (Abbey), Adam Knight (Jaime), Jonathan Knight, Hope Johnson (Trey), Stephen Knight Jr., (Angie), Kevin Wall (Katie), Kristin Knowles (Ken), Joshua Knight (Laura) and Kendell Webb (T.R.) ,17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Everett L. Knight, parents and her siblings.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Knight, Adam Knight, Jonathan Knight, Stephen Knight Jr., Kevin Wall and Joshua Knight. Honorary pallbearers are Mitchell Hebert and great grandsons.
LaVerne was an active member of Church of Christ of Zachary since the 60's. She loved spending time with her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
