Violet Marie Fontenot, 88, a longtime resident of Jackson, LA, died on Thursday, March 18, 2021. For over fifty years, she worked for herself as a beautician. There will be a visitation on Monday, March 22, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Jackson in Jackson, LA from 10:00 am until funeral services at 12:00 pm, conducted by Dr. Joe Nesom. Burial will be at the Jackson Second Baptist Church Cemetery. She is survived by three daughters: Debbie Lege and husband Max; Tonya Kippers and husband Mike; Tina Engelhard and husband Ronnie; two sons: Kenneth Leroy Pittman; and Ernest Wayne “PeeWee” Pittman; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bert Fontenot. Pallbearers will be Dustin Williams, Jacob Buckles, Drew Pittman, Hunter Duos, Gauge Steele, Colby Steele, Evan Pittman, and Grant Duos. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson. She volunteered at the Jackson Food Bank, and participated in the Senior Olympics where she competed in horseshoes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
