Obituary
Raymond Dennis Delatorre passed away February 7, 2021 after his battle with COVID. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Godfather.
For I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. Romans 8:18.
Dennis was born in Houston, TX on February 16, 1941 to G. A. and Lucy Delatorre. Dennis graduated from Catholic High School in 1958. He served in the ROTC at LSU and several years in the Army Reserves. He worked at Ethyl Corp. for 25 years. He retired from Georgia Pacific after 25 additional years.
Dennis was an avid sports fan. He especially loved coaching little league football and baseball. He was a special coach, the kind that a child never forgets. He instilled in each of his players the creed to NEVER, NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP! He kept up with his players throughout their lives and loved to reminisce with them every chance he could get.
Dennis never met a stranger and had the types of friendships that never skipped a beat. Dennis was also quite the dancer. He rarely left a dance floor untouched!
Dennis always put others before himself and took joy in serving others, making those in his presence feel at home. He enjoyed time spent with his family, especially getting together to make tamales and touring family from Texas to get a great po’boy. He also enjoyed watching LSU and the Saints, fishing, traveling, and quick road trips with his Bride Dianne.
He is preceded in death by his parents, G. A. and Lucy Delatorre; father-in-law, Herman Gautreaux; sister, Paulette Garcia; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He leaves behind his wife Dianne G. Delatorre; 3 sons, Brian (Charlotte), Eric (Pamela), Aaron, and a daughter, Renee; a brother, Joey (Eva) Delatorre; a sister, Kathleen Barrera; grandchildren, Tyler and Justin Pate, Eric Jr. and Sarah Delatorre, Ashtin Delatorre, Easton and Presley Delatorre-Chauvin; and three Great Grandchildren, Evelyn and Eric, III Delatorre and Jackson Pate.
