Robert Hull McHugh, died on Friday, Jan. 22, 2021. He was a resident of Zachary, 82 years old and was retired from Lane Memorial Hospital. He was a faithful member of Zachary Community Church. Graveside service will be at 1pm at Shaw McHugh Cemetery, Zachary on Friday, Jan. 29, 2021 conducted by Rev. Danny Greig. The family asks that you please wear a mask and practice social distancing. Duke married his high school sweetheart, Jo Lynette(Smith) and has been married to her for 63 years. Together they have 3 children, Jeff McHugh, Jenny Knight and husband, John; Janet Arnold and husband, Keith. Duke is also survived by his brothers, David R. McHugh III, and wife, Cathy, and Tom Ed McHugh and wife, Betty. 9 grandchildren, Carrie Knight, Collin Knight, Calyn Knight, Jewel Arnold Ogle, Keith Arnold, Jr., Ezra McHugh, Benjamin McHugh, Micah McHugh, and Michaela McHugh. 4 great grandchildren, Alysa Leteff, Harper Leteff, Jaxson Ogle and Madeleine McHugh. He is preceded in death by his father, David R. McHugh, Jr., mother, Barbara M. McHugh, sister, Ann McHugh Barbin and her husband, G. Joe Barbin and an infant sister, Jacqueline McHugh. Pallbearers will be Collin Knight, Ezra McHugh, Benjamin McHugh, Micah McHugh, Keith Arnold, Jr., and Keith Arnold. Duke was inducted into the Zachary High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He was an avid fan of all LSU sports, Geaux Tigers! He loved gardening and cooking. His pride and joy were his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved family gatherings and being with his friends. He was a special person who never had a mean thought. He was loved and will be greatly missed.
