Obituary for Alfred Ray Wilkins

Al was an adventurous man in all he did whether it was telling you about a book he read, his latest golf game, or fishing trip. All who knew him and especially his family loved being entertained by his stories, his music and his singing. He was very involved in his church, False River Baptist. He was the music leader and enjoyed keeping the grass mowed. He is survived by his favorite fishing partner and loving wife, Linda. Four sons: James Tony Wilkins, Corey Layne Wilkins and wife Gina, Jody Trey Wilkins and wife Stacie, and Waylon Ray Wilkins and one daughter Leslie Wilkins Shea and husband Keith. Step children, Glen Baber and wife, Lea, Amy Baber and Lynette Moran and husband, Kevin. Seventeen grandchildren, two brothers: Archie Wilkins and Bill Wilkins and three sisters Dimple Wilkins, Lynda Lawlor, and Sylvia Gray. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Dempsey Wilkins and Maida Cornelia Wilkins and his sister, Lola Cornelia Wilkins. Al died on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018. He was 73 years old, a resident of Jarreau and a native of Waterproof. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018 from 9am until service at 11am. Burial will be in Azalea Rest Cemetery, Zachary. He was a good Christian man who loved God and his Family.
