Life Story for Marcella Crowell Whitehead

Marcella “Rusty” Joy Crowell Whitehead, born November 23, 1927, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the age of 90. Beloved wife of Ralph, devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she taught us all what it meant to be selfless, kind, patient and above all else, Christ like. Marcella was a member of Istrouma Baptist Church and faithfully served in many capacities there, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, WMU leader and officer, and for many years as Sunday School general secretary. She loved the ministry of Judson Baptist Assoc. Food Bank and volunteered there for many years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was an avid quilter, bird watcher, loved and enjoyed flowers, sewing, drawing and painting. Preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Ralph Parker Whitehead, parents, James Andrew and Eva L. Howell Crowell, daughter, Laurie Dale Whitehead, great granddaughter, Joy Elizabeth Reynerson, brothers, William Perry Crowell, James Andrew Crowell, Jr., Cadmus Leroy Crowell, John Calvin Crowell and their wives, sister, Mary Edna Crowell Wallace and her husband. She is survived by daughters, Jamie L. Miller (Rodney), Kristie L. McAdams (Douglas), Shellie L. Fisher (William), grandchildren, Melissa Miller Shores (Rocky), Kelly McAdams Reynerson (Nolan), and Andrew Douglas McAdams, great grandchildren, John Michael Shores IV, William Joseph Shores, Parker Ashton Reynerson, Peyton Douglas Reynerson, Charlotte “Charley” Lane McAdams, numerous nieces and nephews including David Gaudin (Debbie), Jadon Gaudin, and Tina Crowell. Visitation will be held at Charlet Funeral Home, 4230 High Street, Zachary, La. Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 5–9 p.m. and will continue Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Istrouma Baptist Church 10500 Sam Rushing Drive, Baton Rouge, La. from 9-11 a.m. with a service to follow at 11 a.m. Interment following at Roselawn Cemetery 4045 North Street, Baton Rouge, La. Pallbearers are Rodney Miller, Douglas McAdams, William Fisher, David Gaudin, Nolan Reynerson and Andrew McAdams. Special thanks to the caring staff and many friends at Colonial Care Retirement Center, Hospice In His Care, and special caregivers, Shonda and Fannie.
