Julia Spillman Ellerbe, 95, a resident of St. Francisville, LA, died on Thursday, October 18, 2018. There will be a visitation at Charlet Funeral Home, inc. in Zachary, LA on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 9am until funeral services at 11am, conducted by Rev. George Bannister. Burial will be in Spillman Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda Ellerbe Hartness and Robert Hartness Jr.;four grandchildren, Robert Arnold Hartness III, Jason Brett Hartness, Kimberly Ellerbe Cain and Devon Sheridan; and five great-grandchildren: Luke Hartness, Casey Hartness, Randy Hartness, Haley Hudson, and Kylie Cain. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Vernon Lee Ellerbe Jr.; son Vernon Lee Ellerbe III, sister Adele Moore; and parents Ollie Leon and Ruby Cheek Spillman. Pallbearers will be Luke Hartness, Casey Hartness, Robert Hartness III, Austin Loyacono, Colin Loyacono, and Jonathan Veach. She graduated in 1944 from LSU with a degree in Chemistry. She was a member of Naomi Chapter 38, Order of the Eastern Star, Baton Rouge. During WWII, she was proud to have served our armed forces by doing important vital research into Chemical Warfare. She retired for Exxon Chemical after 35 years of service Special thanks to St. Joseph's Hospice for the great care the took with her.
