Obituary for Delores Daniels Pipkin

On Wednesday, September 19, 2018, Delores Daniels Pipkin, age 77, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, peacefully went home to her Lord and Savior with her husband and family surrounding her.
Delores was born on August 3, 1941 in Brentwood, GA to H.V. and Aline Daniels. She moved with her family to Baldwin, FL at the age of 6. She graduated from Baldwin High School in 1959, earning recognition as All Region basketball player and class valedictorian. On January 20, 1962, she married John Daniel Pipkin. They raised a son and two daughters as they moved from Florida, to Georgia, then Alabama and ultimately to their longtime home of Zachary, LA. They were blessed with a deep and abiding love and a marriage of almost 57 years. Delores was a talented, smart, and beautiful woman. She was the most amazing cook, and she loved to travel and fish with her husband. She was an exceptional athlete in high school, and she always read the sports page of the paper before anything else. But more importantly, Delores was the kindest, gentlest, and strongest woman we knew. She faced many challenges later in life, but never complained. She was the rock of our family, and made us all better people. She supported her children and grandchildren through our most difficult times and didn’t waver in her support and love. She was the one and only love of her husband’s life, and now she is his angel.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, H.V and Aline, and brothers Junior, Bud, Tom, Charles, and Harry Daniels. She is survived by her husband Dan, her children, Daniel (Michelle), Alison, and Suzanne (Brian), and grandchildren Madeline, Ally, & Trey Pipkin; Ashton, Lauren, & Savannah Muench; and Jenna, Kate, & Jack Leonard; brother Larry Daniels, sister in law, June Nash, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Charlet Funeral Home,Inc., Zachary, LA. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 at First Baptist Church, Zachary LA at 2:00 pm, with visitation before at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Azalea Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations in memory of Delores to Bar D Outdoors “Where the Wheels Meet the Woods” (disabled hunting non profit, www.bardoutdoors.com; 14174 Hwy. 10, St. Francisville, LA 70775) or the charity of your choice.
