Obituary for Dorothy Charrier Firmin

On September 3, 2018, Dorothy Charrier Firmin of Slaughter, La passed peacefully in her home at the age of 92, born November 21, 1925 in Bayou Jack, LA. She was a hard worker, a loving wife, mother, and above all grandmother. She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara “Bobbie” Bourgeois and husband Philip “Flip” and JoAnn Ilgenfritz, son, Roy Firmin Sr, son-in-law William “Bill” Doucet, and sisterin-law Ethel Charrier. Also survived by seven grandchildren, Roy Firmin Jr and wife Brigitte, Fran Firmin, Tammy Bean, Philip “Flip” Bourgeois Jr. and wife Vicki, Shane Bourgeois and wife Sheilla, Dawn Gulledge and husband Trey, Montana Hilbun and husband David, 18 great grand kids and 13 great great grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents Simon and Emma Charrier, husband Jimmie Firmin Sr., two sons, Ronald “Ronnie” Firmin and Jimmie Firmin Jr., one daughter Dorothy “Dottie” Firmin, two grandsons, Jimmie “Jim” Firmin and Lester “Les” Bean III and one great grandson, Ronnie Firmin. Although she leaves many behind who love her and will miss her dearly, she is rejoicing now with those who went before her that she has missed for so long. Her large brood of grandchildren and greats were her most prize possession and her memory will live on strongly in them. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. There will be a visitation on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the Slaughter First Baptist Church from 10am until funeral services at 12noon, conducted by Rev. Basil Wicker. Burial will be in Eastern Star Cemetery in Wilson.
