Obituary for Mary Ellen Lambert Snyder

Mary Ellen Lambert Snyder
Mary Ellen Lambert Snyder passed away at her home in Zachary on August 15th. While she was a resident of Zachary, Mary Ellen's heart always remained in New Orleans where she was born on November 24, 1939. Being part of the Krewe of Cleopatra, serving on the court in 2013, and starting high school at Dominican High School were a few of her cherished New Orleans experiences. The importance of family was a constant in Mary Ellen's life which was witnessed through the many birthday and Christmas cards and "goody bags" relatives received from Mary Ellen over the years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she served on a variety of committees including the bereavement committee. Her faith sustained her through the three years she battled cancer. During her illness she continued to be a loving wife, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, as well as a dear sister. Mary Ellen is survived by her husband, Jimmy Snyder, her children, Ellen Dunaway (Mark) and Christopher Drago, her grandchildren, Laura Bell and Steven Dunaway, her great grandchildren, Catherine Dean, Elizabeth Dean, Madison Bell, Slade Dunaway and Cade Dunaway, and her sisters Susanne Lewis (Billy) and Sally Parden (Donald) and her brother Arthur Lambert (Jackie). Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Mary Lambert, as well as her grandson, Jonathan Scott Brashier. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St John the Baptist Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 18th, with burial at Azalea Rest Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital in memory of Jonathan Scott Brashier.
