William Conville Hobgood, Jr., 95, a life-long resident of St. Francisville, LA, died at his home on Monday, May 21, 2018. There will be a visitation at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in St. Francisville on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 9am until funeral mass at 11am, conducted by Fr. Joel LaBauve. Burial will be at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery. He is survived by his son, Keith Hobgood and his wife Charlotte of Lafayette, LA; step-grandchildren Jamie Howard and wife Kathryn; Patrick Howard and wife Joanie; and seven step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte Hobgood; father William Conville Hobgood Sr.; mother Willia Leake Hobgood; sisters Margaret Hobgood Lemoine and Katherine Hobgood Courrege. Pallbearers will be Con Lemoine, Rod Lemoine, Walt Lemoine, Charles Seal, William Parkinson, Bobbie Leake, John Cassity, Rucker Leake III, Jamie Howard, and Patrick Howard. Honorary pallbearers will be Al Lemoine, Conville Lemoine, Walter Lemoine, Frank Courrege, Bill Courrege, Mumford Leake, Rucker Leake, Jr., Andy Erickson, and Neibe Wood. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in WWII. He graduated from Julius Freehan High School in St. Francisville. He attended LSU, where he was affiliated with the Deke Fraternity. He retired from Bancroft Paper and Janitorial Supplies of Baton Rouge, as the president, after working for them for 36 years. He was a member of the St. Francisville Poker Club from 1956-2016 (60 years), and a charter member of the Romeo Men’s Group. He was the former Mayor of St. Francisville and a member of the Town Council. The family wishes to thank Bonnie Erickson and the nuns of the Diocese for their monthly visits and prayers.
