Born June 11,1941. A loving Husband, Daddy and Pop, he went to be with our Lord on Saturday, May 12, 2018. He passed away on the 14th anniversary of his Mothers passing. He passed away at his home in Zachary with his family by his side. Visiting at Charlet Funeral Home in Zachary on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 9am until religious services at 11am. Burial at Azalea Rest Cemetery immediately following the service. Survived by a son and daughter in law, Jerry and Cathy Matherne of Zachary ;a daughter and son in law, Michelle and Jason Stanford of Norwood; four grandchildren, Cameron Matherne of Zachary and Kenzie, Kendall and Kade Stanford of Norwood; two great grandchildren, Miles Matherne and Chandler Matherne; sister and brother in law, Neddie and Pat Burns; sister and brother in law, Marlene and Tommy Fabre; brother and sister in law, David and Celeste Matherne. Preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Edna Brown Matherne; infant daughter, Melissa Matherne; Parents, Ned and Rosemary Matherne. Pallbearers will be Cameron Matherne, David Matherne, Pat Burns, Tommy Fabre, Gary Guyban and Kylie Sparks. Honorary pallbearer will be Kade Stanford. Gerald enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and many other outdoor activities. “ You have lost one of the Century’s greatest!”
