Obituary for Loretta Julia McQueen (Crawford)

“Do not let your hearts to be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms, if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back to take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."
Loretta Julia Crawford McQueen entered into eternal rest peacefully on April 28, 2018 at Lane Nursing Home at the age of 89. She was a retired pediatric nurse with over 40 years of dedicated service. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm religious service at Sandy Creek Baptist Church, Pride, conducted by Rev. Dwayne Rogers and Rev. Dale Phillips. Interment in church cemetery.
Survived by daughter, Marilyn Zalesky (Danny), grandchildren, Angie Breeden (fiancé Charley), Marcia Flotte (Jimmy) and Laurie Hancock (David), great-grandchildren, Kennedi and Reid Saari, Avery and Trip Flotte and Shelby, Annalee and Julia Hancock. Preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Elbert “Poole” McQueen Jr. parents, Sam and Mildred Crawford, sister, Juanita Dixon and two brothers, Carlton and Doodle Crawford.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Flotte, David Hancock, Charley Davis, Reid Saari, Trip Flotte, Bob Kelly, D.J. Atkinson, Huey Long and Jamie Felder. Honorary pallbearers are Charlie Cedotal, Jay Crawford, Ken Lipscomb, and Mantle Austin.
Her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, she loved them like no other. She was a faithful member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Myrtle-Celeste Chapter No.231 of Order of the Eastern Star until her illness. She had at true dedication to Dr. Cecil Lorio, Dr. Leon Bombet and her patients. The family would like to express their love and thankfulness to Dr. Amacker, Dr. Elkins and Lane Nursing Home staff for the care they provided to our loved one. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude or the building fund at Sandy Creek Baptist.
