Obituary for Albert Gay Bondurant Jr.

​Albert Gay Bondurant, Jr., born in Waterproof, LA, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018 at his home in Baker, LA at the age of 91. His life’s work was Civil Engineering and construction, having obtained his degree from Louisiana Tech after military service in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He retired as a partner in Stafford Construction, where he worked until 75 years of age. “Papa” loved to fish and garden, and every fall we would marvel at the numbers of hummingbirds that would literally migrate through his backyard. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Helen Clotile Hopper Bondurant, his father, Albert Gay Bondurant, Sr., his mother, Mary “Mollie” Nichols Drake Bondurant, brother, Robert Kirk Bondurant, sisters, Mary Reynolds Bondurant and Catherine Bondurant Prince and her husband, William Prince. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Catherine Bondurant McHugh, son-in-law, David McHugh, his son, Albert Winans Bondurant and daughter-in-law, Lynn Marie Acosta Bondurant; and grandson, Albert William Bondurant, his wife, Katherine Dillon Bondurant and great granddaughter, Lillian Drake Bondurant; his grandson, Daniel Lynn Bondurant and fiancé, Laura Levert; and grandson, Drake Nichols Bondurant. Special gratitude and thanks to caregivers Ms. Jo, Lydia, Tina, Victoria, Nettie, and Brittany. In lieu of flowers please donate to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Wounded Warrior Project. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation to be held at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 9:00am until memorial service time at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Baker.
