Obituary for Floyd Cecil "Floyd" Robinson

Floyd “CECIL” Robinson, a resident of Village Woods Retirement Community in Baton Rouge, was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the morning of January 18th, 2018, at the Ollie Steele Burden Manor. Cecil, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was born on February 12, 1925, in the community of Crichton, Louisiana, near Coushatta in Red River Parish. The sixth of the seven children of Francis “FM” and Lennie Robinson, he grew up in Haynesville, graduating from Haynesville High School in 1942. After serving in the Army Air Corps during WW-II, he returned to northwest Louisiana, taking a job with Arkansas-Louisiana (ARKLA) Gas Company in Shreveport. Over the next 47 years, Cecil worked up through the ranks becoming a regional measurement supervisor based in Ruston, LA. He loved going to LaTech Bulldogs Football and Lady Techsters Basketball games in Ruston. After retirement, he and Barbara moved to Baton Rouge where between cruises and trips abroad, he served on numerous committees in the Village Woods Retirement Community. Cecil was loved and respected by all who knew him for his wit, skill at card games and sense of humor. He will be dearly missed.

Cecil is survived by his wife of 64 years Barbara (Permenter) Robinson; daughter Cathy (Robinson) Borneman and husband Kevin of Zachary; son Charles Marion Robinson and wife Stephanie (Downs) Robinson of Niceville, FL; four grandsons and three great-granddaughters.

Cecil was a Radio-Operator/Right Waist Gunner on the B-17 and B-26 bombers during WWII.

Cecil is preceded in death by his parents Francis Marion and Lena Ann (Crawford) Robinson and six siblings: Crawford, Mac, and Royce Robinson; Marie (Lawrence), Mildred (Mead), and Kathryn (Rash).

Cecil’s wish was to be cremated. A remembrance of life service will be held in Zachary at Zachary United Methodist Church on Monday, 22 January with a visitation from 9am until funeral services at 11:30am, with interment to follow at the Louisiana National Cemetery at 1230.
