Paul McGuff, 65, died at Lane Memorial Medical Center, January 17, 2018, due to complications of Influenza A. He was a long time resident of New Orleans, until deteriorating health led to admission to Villa Feliciana chronic care facility in 2015. At Villa he received excellent care.
Paul was born March 7, 1952 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated from Columbia Military Academy, Columbia, TN in 1970 and attended Loyola University, New Orleans. His passions were radio broadcasting, electronics, and building amplifiers for the musicians in New Orleans. He spent many hours behind the scenes at the New Orleans Jazz Festival, maintaining and repairing musical instruments and amplifiers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Rosana McGuff and younger brother, Paul Charles McGuff.
He is survived by sisters Jane Carolyn McGuff (Sister Mary Veronica), Monastery St. Clare, Jamaica Plain, MA and Patricia McGuff Martin-Schneider M.D. and her husband Ronnie Martin, St. Francisville; and by his brother Michael Paul McGuff and wife Lisa of Houston, TX.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law Eleanor Bullock McGuff, Round Rock, TX; former brother-in-law Lawrence Schneider M.D. and his wife Susan; nephews Charles Schneider and wife Anne Locke, of Nashville, TN; Daniel Schneider, Baton Rouge; Michael McGuff and wife Eva of Hutto, TX; Matthew McGuff and wife Brittany, of Idaho; and eight great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be on Saturday, January 20, 10:00 A.M. with services at 11:00 A.M at Grace Episcopal Church, St. Francisville, LA Burial following at Grace Church Cemetery.
Special thanks to his favorite nephew, Daniel, who spent a great deal of time, keeping Uncle Paul comfortable in his declining years, and to his caregivers, at unit D, at Villa Feliciana. The family is also appreciative of the compassionate care by all the staff at Lane Regional Medical Center during the last week of his life.
