Obituary for Henry "Sonny" Ealer Johnston Sr.

Henry “Sonny” Ealer Johnston Sr., 82, a resident of Lindsay, LA, died on Friday, February 17, 2017 at his home. He was semi-retired and self employed. There will be a visitation at Roseneath, 1662 Erin Street, Jackson, LA on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 10am until 12noon. A private family graveside service will be held later, conducted by Rev. Bob Wojohn. Burial will be at Jackson Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Fatie Alexander Johnston; one daughter, Mary Bethea Johnston Jarreau and her husband Christopher Paul Jarreau of Baton Rouge; one son, Henry Ealer Johnston Jr. and his wife Tracy Aycock Johnston of Slaughter; and grandchild Bridgette Leigh Johnston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Henry Johnston and Mary Dudley Johnston; daughter Hollie Lea Johnston; and grandson John Henry Johnston. Pallbearers will be T. L. Cappel, III, Donald Enis, Don McKey, Christopher P. Jarreau, Daryl Rice, and Jackie Lowell Boone, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be O. Miles Pollard, Jr., Johnny McKowen, Grady Brown, and Earl K. Oswalt. He was a graduate of Murphy High School in Mobile, AL and LSU. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Order and the Southern Club. He was an avid pilot and enjoyed deep-sea sport fishing and hunting.
