Obituary for Ray Meyer "Sonny" Tynes
Ray Meyer “Sonny” Tynes, born October 9, 1949, passed away at home in Grangeville, LA, Friday, December 2, 2016. He was a husband, daddy and amazing grandfather, known to his grandbabies as “Ray”. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. He loved nothing more than to spend his time in the Amite River, barefooted in his garden or outside in Grangeville with his family. He worked as an offshore drilling foreman for ConocoPhillips until he retired in 2009 after 39 years. Ray is survived by his wife of 35 years, Brenda Gurney Tynes. By his children, Nicholas Ray Tynes and girlfriend, Morgan Creel, and Rachel Tynes Guidry, and husband, Ashton Guidry. Also by his nephew, David Gurney and great niece Andi Elizabeth Gurney. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Tynes Lee Guidry, Dane Nicholas Guidry and Micah Bradley Guidry. Brother, Ronnie Tynes and sister, Cindy Williams, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Lorene Tynes. And sister, Robin Tynes Grantham. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Ray Tynes, Ashton Guidry, Hunter Tynes, Kirk Tynes, Douglas Glass, David Gurney, Caleb Easley and Boomer Stroud. Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Lancon, Burt Tynes, Kyle Fleniken, Brennan Fucich and Bobby Wayne McMorris.
Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016 from 9am until 11am. Burial will be private in Grangeville.
