Obituary for Rickey James "Rick" King

Rick James King went to be with his Lord on June 20, 2016. He was 59 years of age. Heaven was ready to receive him, we just weren't ready to give him.
For more than 35 years, Rick worked for Entergy in a variety of roles. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering Technology from Oklahoma State University. He began his career in Regulatory & Licensing interfacing with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on the licensing of the River Bend Nuclear generating station in St. Francisville, LA. He later worked at Entergy’s Arkansas Nuclear One station up until the summer of 1996. He then transferred to River Bend Nuclear station as Director of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. In August 2007, Rick joined the Ethics and Compliance Department as Director of Electric Reliability Standards.
Rick is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cheryl A. King and their two children Lisa N. King Redmon and husband Paul S. Redmon; son Josh L. King; and one grandchild, Chloe Grace Redmon. He is survived by his sister, Sharon Montgomery; and brothers, Jack C. King and Bill L. King; his mother-in-law, Verla E. Hays. He is also survived by many brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack L. King, and his mother, Dolly Jean King-Wolverton; and his father-in-law, Clinton C. Hays.
Rick was a man of great faith that loved his Lord with all his heart. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with each of them. We will be forever grateful for the way he led our family. He was a man of integrity, love, kindness, service, humility, and patience. He poured out his life to serve us, take care of us, guide us, and love us. His tree was full of fruit, ready to be harvested. We will miss him everyday until we are reunited with him in heaven. He had perfected his heart and had earned his wings. Job well done Rick. Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, and Friend.
He had a heart for missions to expand God’s Kingdom. Any donations in his honor can be given to The Surge Project (http://surgeproject.com/plant-a-church/).
Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Bethany World Prayer Center, Baker, LA from 9:00 am until service time at 10:30 am.
