Francis Marion Jackson, Sr., 89, was born in Aiken, South Carolina on December 15, 1926 and died in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on January 23, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joyce Ramagos Jackson; two daughters, Lynne Schneider and her husband, Steve, of Huntsville, Alabama and Marsha Hays and her husband, Tommy, of Pride, Louisiana; one son, Francis Jackson, Jr. and his wife, Penny, of Zachary, Louisiana; nine grandchildren, Erika Schneider Dinges, Stephen Schneider, Krystle Schneider, Sarah Hays, Gabbie Hays, John Hays, Tyler Jackson, Dylan Jackson and Rylan Jackson; three great-grandchildren Darren, Hailey, and Emma; brothers Homer Jackson and wife, Eva Mae, of Zachary, Louisiana and Ralph Delmas Jackson and wife, Shirley, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Francis was a long-time resident of Zachary, Louisiana, a WWII veteran, and a multi-craft maintenance mechanic for Kaiser Aluminum (15 years) and Georgia-Pacific (23 years). He enjoyed his cows, his horses, supporting his children and grandchildren in their sports, and helping his friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clem and Beulah Jackson, brothers C. W., Ted, and Howell Jackson and sister, Sarah Harrell.
A visitation will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Zachary, Louisiana on Tuesday, January 26 from 9-11 a.m. followed immediately by a funeral mass officiated by Father M. Jeffery Bayhi. Burial will be at Resthaven in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church’s Building Fund.
Pallbearers will be Steve Schneider, Tommy Hays, Stephen Schneider, Tyler Jackson, Dylan Jackson, and John Hays. Honorary pallbearers are R. E. McKey and “Duck” Forbes.
