Helen Lee Newman, 89, born on March 28, 1925, a resident of Zachary, LA, went to be with Jesus Christ our Lord on September 9, 2014. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and soon to be great, great grandmother. She was born and raised in Gloster, MS. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Saturday, September 13, 2014 from 11am until funeral services at 1pm, conducted by Pastor Shawn Ostoj of Sharon Baptist Church of Port Allen, LA. Burial will be at Azalea Rest Cemetery.

She is survived by three daughters: Linda Easley of Pineville, LA; Gloria Shaw and her husband M. Glenn Shaw of Jarreau, LA; Patricia Daniels and her husband David Daniels of Zachary, LA; two sisters, Pauline Jean of Mount Prospect, IL; Mary Ann Moore of Lindale, TX; 11 grandchildren: Renee Moore and her husband Charlie of Zachary; Lance Willcutt of Zachary; Robin Easley of Lafayette, LA; Russell Easley and his wife Alicia of Pineville; Jeff Easley of Pineville; James Daniels of Baton Rouge; Aaron Daniels and his wife Emily of St. Francisville; Jonathan Daniels of Zachary; Jared Shaw and his wife Robin of Madison, MS; Sherrie Shaw and her husband Chris of Redondo Beach, CA; Lisa Shaw and her husband Neil of Houston, TX; 12 great-grandchildren: Ryan Moore and his wife Julie; Alexandra Moore; Victoria Moore; Jacob Moore; Morgan Willcutt; Brennan Willcutt; Benjamin Easley; Lorell Daniel; Jake Walling; John Walling; Kayla Breaux; Avery Coney.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Grover Cleveland “G.C.” Newman; father Henderson A. Morris and mother Mary Oakes Morris; brothers Earl C. Morris, Alfred M. Morris, Sidney Morris, William “Billy” Morris, sisters Lucille Morris of McComb, Opal Lynch of New Orleans, Ruth Estelle Westbrook of Summit, MS; son-in-law Marvin Easley of Pineville.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Moore, Jacob Moore, Russell Easley, Jeff Easley, James Daniels, Aaron Daniels, Jonathan Daniels, and Jared Shaw. Honorary pallbearers will be M. Glenn Shaw, David Daniels, Edward Butch Willcutt, Brennan Willcutt, and Charlie Moore. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Zachary. She loved gardening, music, reading, and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank all the staff, caregivers, nurses and management at Grace Nursing Home for their wonderful care.
