Obituary for Norman Lee "Ike" Icenogle

Norman Lee "Ike" Icenogle, 77, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, of natural causes at Kentwood Manor Nursing Home, Kentwood. He was a longtime resident of Kentwood and Ethel and a native of Mon-mouth, Ill. He was retired, having worked at DCI and The Bluffs Golf Course. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary, on Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Alvin Hall. He will be buried at Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by his wife of nine years, Nan Gore Icenogle, of Kentwood; stepdaughter Lisa Pitre and hus-band Nolan Pitre, of Kentwood; son, Scott Icenogle and wife Nicole Wolfe, of Nashville, Tenn.; stepson, Dale Coon and wife Stephanie Coon, of Kentwood; sister-in-law, Dolly Icenogle, of Gerlaw, Ill.; brother, the Rev. Delbert Icenogle and wife Ann, of Monmouth, Ill.; grandchildren, Ashely Robertson and husband Shay Robertson, Justin Coon, Katelyn Pitre and Cassie Pitre; and great-grandchildren, Alleigh Robertson and Abigayle Coon. Preceded in death by his parents, Fred Icenogle and Reha Lovitt Icenogle; brothers, L. Dale "Pink" Icenogle and Dick Icenogle; sister, Shirley Tansey; grandson, Christopher Dale Coon; and two wives, Arlene Icenogle and Mary W. Icenogle. Pallbearers will be Dale Coon, Nolan Pitre, Benny Cook, Ron Galbo, Kevin Cote, Justin Coon, Shay Robertson and Truman Holland. Honorary pall-bearers are Robert Jarreau and Bobby Brooks. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed golf, leading the Angola prison band and singing country music. In his younger years, he served as an umpire in the Major Leagues and was a lifelong Cubs fan.
