Obituary for June Bernard Graham
June Bernard Graham, 88, died peacefully at home in her bed this past Monday night,
January 28 th , 2019 in Baton Rouge. Visitation will be Saturday, February 9th, 2019 from
11a – 1p at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary, LA with a memorial service, conducted
by Rev. M. Jeffery Bayhi, at 1p. Preceding her in death were her ex-husband, Charles
Graham Sr, with whom she had six children; her beloved daughter Earline “Theresa”
Simmons and long-time companion, John Kondrup. Those of us eagerly awaiting reunion
with her when our times come to pass are sister, “Connie” Landry; daughters: Melody
Chilson and spouse Wanda Copeland; Karen McGraw and husband “Mike”; sons: David
and wife Becky, Christian and wife Stacye and Mitchell and wife Sandy; son-in-law H. K.
Simmons; sixteen grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, three great-great-
grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom, Big Mama, Granny June and Ms.
June had an extraordinarily full and blessed life, filled with joy, laughter and wonder. She
loved the beach and searching for seashells, appreciated a Cajun two-step fiddle and
delighted in the rich mystery of concocting a perfect roux and magical gumbo and was
known, on occasion, to hold court in her kitchen as the diva she could be, surrounded by
loving family. She will be greatly missed, but we celebrate and rejoice in her eternal
