Obituary for Dolores Marlene Humphrey Forbes

Dolores Marlene Humphrey Forbes was born on Tuesday, May 19, 1931, and passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at the age of 86. She lived her life as a true example of Proverbs 31:10-31. “She is clothed with strength and dignity; her children rise up and call her blessed.”
She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter and sister who loved the Lord and her family with a gracious, committed heart full of wisdom always serving and taking care of the needs of others. She served Sandy Creek Baptist Church all her adult life, 47 years of it caring for the babies in the church nursery. Through this, she touched countless lives of children as well as their parents. The love and care she took with each child, and the wisdom she shared with parents has helped mold generations. Marlene is survived by her children and spouses, Robert McClain 'Mac' and Debe Forbes, Ronnie and Pam Forbes, Donna and Bill Wilkins, and Jill and David Baggett; grandchildren, Bradley Carl Forbes, Jeremy Forbes, Kris Wilkins, Colt Wilkins, Tyler Baggett and Reagan Baggett; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Forbes, Kayden Wilkins, Lane Forbes, Logan Forbes, Landry Forbes, Levi Carl Wilkins, Daisy Wilkins, Reid Kelly and Layton Dousay; siblings and spouses, Shirley and Bill McCoy, Donald and Virginia Forbes, Cecil and Barbara Ann Forbes, Larry and Dora Forbes and Rose Mae Barker. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert Carl Forbes, oldest grandson, Christian McClain Forbes, father, Frank Humphrey, mother, Christine McGraw Humphrey Forbes, stepfather, John Adam Forbes and siblings Jerry Humphrey, Norman Forbes, Delmas Forbes, and Annie Ruth Dispayne. Visitation will be at Sandy Creek Baptist Church, Pride, LA on Saturday, May 12, 2018, from 2pm-4pm with services at 4pm conducted by Bro Tim Norris and Bro Dale Philips, funeral arrangements by Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Bradley Forbes, Jeremy Forbes, Kris Wilkins, Colt Wilkins, Tyler Baggett and granddaughter, Reagan Baggett. Her family would like to thank Ms. Terry Sanders, PA, for years of amazing medical care and friendship, and the staff of Grace Health and Rehab Center for the care and sincere love given to her during the last eight months of her life. They would especially like to show heartfelt appreciation to Rhonda Penton Sanders, Helen Chambers Baldwin and Brenda Collier Johnson who lovingly and meticulously helped love and care for her while she was at home. Marlene’s greatest joy was in taking care of her family; her husband, children and grandchildren, cooking, rocking babies, growing beautiful flowers and working side by side with her husband, Carl. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that in Marlene’s memory, you find someone in need and spend time doing your best to fulfill it.
