Obituary for James Harold Gunter


James Harold Gunter “Jim”, 79, a resident of St. Francisville, LA and former owner of Ezy Pay Furniture in Ferriday, LA for over 17 years, died on Thursday, March 1, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gloria Henley Gunter; three daughters, Sharla Anne May and her husband William H. May III of St. Francisville; Candice Rae Barker and her husband Kelly of Scottsdale, AZ; Nancy Cathryn "Cati" Anderson and her husband Joel of Caledonia, MS; one son, James Gregory “Greg” Gunter and his wife Kimberly Ann Gunter of Atlanta, GA; thirteen grandchildren: Christopher Michael Bowlin, Amanda Margaret Boyd, William H. May IV, Lauren McKenna Belle McElroy, Margaret Ann Robidoux, John Luke Robidoux, Jack Henley Barker, Jordan Alan Anderson, Joshua Aaron Anderson, Gunter Matthew Anderson, Trevor Holloway, Alexander Keith Gunter and Ian Mitchell Gunter; and two great-grandchilden, Brooke Tiffany Boyd, and Adelyn Belle McElroy. He was preceded in death by his parents William Carl and Audie Lee Gunter; brother William Carl Gunter Jr; brother Robert Edward Gunter; and sister Lida Willodean Baugh. He was both a former minister and a prolific writer who authored four theological books as well as many theological articles over his lifetime. He was an avid fisherman and loved vegetable gardening. Finally, he was a proud veteran of the US Air Force.
